- CCS Compatibility: The WETOX D2 is built on the CCS protocol "ISO-15118." Most Teslas manufactured after 2022 with the NACS standard are already compatible with the CCS protocol. However, Teslas produced before 2022 rely on Tesla's proprietary TPC protocol, which does not support V2L functionality. For these older Tesla models to work with the WETOX D2, you'll need to visit a Tesla Service Center or install the "CCS ECU" module yourself. To confirm compatibility, check your vehicle's screen by navigating to Control > Software > Additional Vehicle Information > CCS adapter support. If it shows "Enabled", your vehicle is ready to use the adapter. If it displays "Not Installed", your Tesla will not support V2L functionality.
- Discharge Range & Settings: The WETOX D2 features a 10% low-battery protection by default (customizable via the WETOX App) to prevent complete drainage. Since Tesla optimizes its displayed range, we recommend using the adapter when the screen shows 95% or lower.
Crucial: When using the V2L function via the adapter, your vehicle's current battery level must be lower than the "Charge Limit" set on your Tesla’s touchscreen.
- Vehicle Display Status: Since Tesla does not have a dedicated built-in UI for V2L, your Tesla instrument cluster, touchscreen, and mobile App will all display the status as "Charging" while using the V2L function via the adapter. This is simply due to the vehicle's system limitations and does not affect the actual discharge performance.
- Weather Resistance:The WETOX D2 and its sockets are engineered as a complete system with an IPX5 weather-resistant rating to be safe in the rain even when no plugs are inserted; however, if you connect a device, the plug must be fully inserted to its limit to maintain the protective seal, as a partially inserted plug will allow water ingress and pose a safety risk. Please note that while the WETOX hardware is protected, users assume full responsibility for ensuring their connected appliances or extension cords are also rated for outdoor use, and the USB-C port is not weather-resistant and must always remain sealed with the rubber cap when not in use.
- Camp Mode:Tesla may occasionally activate its sleep mode automatically, which could result in a sudden power interruption during discharging. To prevent this, you can enable "Camp Mode." For maximum energy efficiency, we recommend disabling "Auto" and then disabling "AC" in the climate settings. This keeps the vehicle awake while minimizing unnecessary power draw.While power interruptions are extremely rare, we provide this method as a proactive recommendation.
- Operational Sounds: During discharge, you may hear a humming or buzzing sound from the front of your Tesla. This is normal behavior. According to the Tesla Owner’s Manual, the vehicle’s thermal management system may activate to maintain optimal battery temperature during stationary periods in extreme heat or cold, even if the vehicle is not actively charging or discharging.
- Regional Compatibility & Output: This product is exclusively designed for the North American market, featuring the NACS charging standard with a 120V 60Hz AC output. Use of this product is strictly prohibited for Tesla vehicles in South Korea and Taiwan, even those equipped with NACS ports, due to voltage and protocol differences. For users in Japan, please be advised of regional frequency variances; you must strictly verify your appliance's compatibility with this adapter’s 120V 60Hz output before use.
- Internal Battery Maintenance: The WETOX D2 includes a built-in battery to power communication with the vehicle's BMS. If the adapter hasn't been used for a long time, this internal battery may run out of power. To resolve this, you can use the provided USB-C cable to fully charge the device overnight before use, or connect the USB-A to USB-C cable while turning the device on; once V2L discharging starts, the adapter will automatically recharge its internal battery. Please note that the USB-C port is designed for charging the adapter, rather than for charging devices like smartphones or tablets. To prevent the internal battery from over-discharging, we recommend proactively charging the device once every quarter to maintain its long-term health.

Does it waste energy? I heard V2L triggers battery heating.
The WETOX D2 is engineered for peak conversion efficiency, which you can see validated in our uncut "one-take" test video on our official YouTube channel.
While many V2L devices on the market inadvertently trigger the car's internal battery heater—wasting significant energy and creating a loud, annoying "whirring" noise—our engineering team has leveraged our deep protocol experience to solve this. We are proud to say that WETOX does not trigger the vehicle's battery heating system.
This means you won't waste precious driving range on "phantom heat," and you’ll enjoy a completely silent discharge experience without that constant humming sound.
Is WETOX PowerShare D2 compatible with all Tesla models (NACS)?
The Cybertruck and 2025 Model Y Performance are equipped with native V2L hardware and do not require this product. For Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X (NACS), please ensure your vehicle is CCS Protocol Enabled. You can verify this by going to Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information on your Tesla’s touchscreen. For more critical details, please refer to the first point in our "Important Notes" section.
How long can the V2L adapter power my appliances? Will it completely drain my car’s battery?
The WETOX D2 functions by drawing DC power directly from your Tesla and converting it into stable AC electricity. Runtime is determined by two factors: your vehicle's current State of Charge (SOC) and the wattage of your connected appliances. To protect your mobility, the adapter features real-time SOC monitoring and an automated low-battery safeguard that stops discharge at 10% SOC, ensuring you always have sufficient range to reach a charger.
What specific appliances can I use with the V2L adapter?
The adapter is equipped with two NEMA 5-15 outlets, each delivering up to 1.8kW, with a combined maximum output of 3.6kW. This is sufficient for the vast majority of high-power household devices. However, please note that appliances with compressors (such as full-sized refrigerators or air conditioners) often experience a brief power surge during startup. This surge may temporarily exceed the 3.6kW limit, so we recommend checking your appliance specifications before use.
Will using the V2L adapter damage my Tesla?
Not at all. The WETOX D2 is engineered to comply with established industry standards, including NACS, ISO-15118, and SAE J3400. It communicates with your vehicle through a sophisticated handshake protocol, allowing the car to voluntarily enable power discharge—no "hacking" or hardware modifications are involved. Tesla batteries are built to handle discharge rates in the hundreds of kilowatts during acceleration; a steady 3.6kW draw is negligible by comparison and will not impact battery health.
Will using the V2L adapter void my Tesla warranty?
The WETOX D2 is a plug-and-play external accessory that requires no modifications to the vehicle's original wiring or internal systems. While warranty policies are ultimately determined by Tesla, global precedents show that major automakers like Nissan, Buick, and Cadillac have explicitly approved the use of DC V2L adapters. Over the past three years, we have sold tens of thousands of units globally with zero reported cases of warranty loss due to our product. However, please be advised that by purchasing this product, you acknowledge and assume the risks associated with using third-party accessories, and the final interpretation of warranty terms belongs to the automaker.
Can Tesla simply add V2L via an OTA update, making this hardware obsolete?
No. Native AC V2L (discharging through a simple plug) requires a Bi-directional On-Board Charger (OBC). Most current Tesla models utilize a unidirectional OBC, which is a physical hardware limitation that cannot be changed via software (OTA). To export power from these vehicles, you must use a specialized DC-to-AC V2L Adapter like the WETOX D2 to bypass the hardware gap.
Furthermore, according to the NACS white paper's roadmap for future V2X integration, it is unlikely that automakers would intentionally disable V2L functionality via OTA updates, as this aligns with the broader move toward energy ecosystem openness. However, final control over vehicle software protocols rests with the automaker. To address this, the WETOX D2 is engineered with OTA firmware upgrade capabilities. Should a vehicle update inadvertently affect V2L compatibility, we have the technical capacity to develop and deploy re-adaptation patches at the fastest possible speed. While we strive for 100% continuous uptime, the use of third-party accessories involves inherent risks; by purchasing the D2, you acknowledge these conditions and the dynamic nature of vehicle software environments.
Does the WETOX D2 have official UL or CE certification?
Currently, many brands on the market only possess "compliance test reports" from third-party labs, which are not the same as official certificates. WETOX is committed to full transparency: we are currently in the formal process of obtaining full UL and CE certifications. These official documents will be published on our website immediately upon completion. In the meantime, our products have already received official endorsements from multiple automakers, which remains one of the most reliable indicators of real-world safety and build quality.
What’s the warranty period for WETOX PowerShare D2?
We provide a comprehensive 2-Year Warranty for all users. This includes a "Year 1: Replacement Only" policy—meaning if any hardware issue occurs in the first 12 months, we will immediately send you a brand-new unit instead of making you wait for repairs. For the second year, you are fully covered under our standard professional warranty. We don't charge extra for reliability; it's built into every D2 we make.
Does it work with CCS2 Teslas, and what about future NACS EVs?
This specific model is tailored for the NACS port. For CCS2-standard Teslas, you must purchase our dedicated WETOX D2-CCS2 version. While we guarantee performance for the native D2-CCS2 model, we cannot guarantee stability or safety when using third-party conversion adapters. Regarding future vehicles, we perform continuous compatibility testing; when new models are matched, you can easily update your D2 to the latest firmware via our App to ensure seamless operation.
When will the WETOX D2 be available for purchase? I noticed the "Buy Now" button is currently inactive.
We are currently in the final stages of mass production and quality optimization. The WETOX D2 is scheduled for its official global launch in June or July 2026.
