- CCS2 Compatibility & Legacy Models: The WETOX D2 is fully compatible with the ISO-151118 protocol. For all Tesla models equipped with a native CCS2 port, compatibility is guaranteed. For older Model S and Model X vehicles featuring the legacy Type 2 interface, you will need to visit a Tesla Service Center or install the "CCS ECU" module yourself to enable V2L functionality. To verify your vehicle's status, navigate to Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information > CCS Adapter Support. If it displays "Enabled", your vehicle is ready; if "Not Installed", the V2L function will not be supported.
- Maximum Power Output & Regional Regulations: While the WETOX D2 hardware is engineered to support a peak capacity of 7360W, the actual output is governed by regional electrical safety standards. In the UK, Europe, and ANZ, standard domestic outlets (such as Type F or Type G) and power strips are legally restricted to 3680W (16A). Consequently, in our current "one-to-one" configuration, the maximum usable output is capped at 3680W to ensure full compliance with local safety regulations. Future accessories may be introduced to further unlock the device’s high-power potential where regulations permit.
- Voltage Safeguards: This version is exclusively designed for regions with a 220V–240V 50Hz electrical infrastructure (UK, EU, ANZ, etc.). It is strictly prohibited for use in 110V/120V regions (e.g., North America, Taiwan, or Japan). Connecting this device to mismatched voltage systems will cause irreparable damage and poses a severe safety risk.
- Waterproofing & Maintenance: The WETOX D2 system carries an IPX5 rating. To maintain the watertight seal, ensure the Aviation-grade connector is fully seated and locked. When not in use, the integrated rubber protective cap must be securely fastened to prevent moisture ingress. On the bespoke power strip (IPX6), appliance plugs must be inserted firmly to their limit to ensure operational safety during rain. Please note that the USB-C maintenance port is not waterproof and must remain sealed during use.
- Discharge Range & Settings: To protect the long-term health of your vehicle’s battery, the D2 features a 10% low-battery threshold (customisable via the WETOX App). We recommend initiating the discharge when your Tesla’s state of charge is at 95% or lower.
Crucial: Your vehicle's current battery level must be lower than the "Charge Limit" set on your Tesla’s touchscreen for the V2L function to activate.
- Vehicle Display Status: As Tesla does not currently feature a dedicated native V2L interface, your instrument cluster and mobile App will display the status as "Charging" during operation. This is a system-level characteristic of the vehicle and does not affect the actual discharge performance or safety of the D2.
- Camp Mode: To prevent the vehicle from entering "Sleep Mode" and interrupting power, we recommend enabling "Camp Mode". For maximum efficiency, we advise disabling "Auto" and then "AC" within the climate settings; this keeps the vehicle’s systems active while minimising unnecessary energy consumption.
- Operational Sounds: A faint humming or buzzing from the front of your Tesla during discharge is normal. This indicates the vehicle’s thermal management system is active—maintaining optimal battery temperature in extreme heat or cold—even if the vehicle is stationary.
- Internal Battery Maintenance: The D2 includes a built-in battery for BMS communication. If the device remains unused for an extended period, this battery may deplete. To resolve this, use the provided USB-C cable to charge the device overnight. We recommend a proactive charge once every quarter to ensure the internal battery remains healthy.

Is this WETOX PowerShare D2 (CCS2 Edition) compatible with all Tesla models?

For legacy Model S and Model X vehicles that originally featured the Type 2 interface, you must first verify that your vehicle is "CCS Protocol Enabled" via the touchscreen settings (Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information), and once confirmed, the D2 must be used in conjunction with a genuine Tesla CCS2-to-Type2 adaptor to function correctly. To protect your mobility, the adaptor features an automated safeguard that stops discharging at 10% SOC, ensuring you always have sufficient range to reach a charger.
What specific appliances can I use? What are the power limits?
The CCS2 version features our new Industrial-grade Aviation Interface and a bespoke IPX6 Waterproof Power Strip. While the internal hardware supports up to 7.3kW, the actual usable power is governed by your region’s socket safety standards: 2,990W in the UK (Type G) or 3,680W in most EU countries (Type E/F). It is ideal for high-power household appliances, but please note that inductive loads (like compressors in large fridges) may cause a brief power surge during startup.
Will using the V2L adaptor damage my Tesla?
Not at all. The WETOX D2 complies with the ISO-15118 and DIN-70121 standards. It uses a sophisticated "handshake" protocol to communicate with your vehicle, allowing the car to voluntarily export power—no "hacking" or hardware modifications involved. A steady 3.6kW draw is negligible for a Tesla battery and will not impact its long-term health.
Will using the V2L adaptor void my Tesla warranty?

Can Tesla simply add V2L via an OTA update, making this hardware obsolete?
The short answer is no, because native AC V2L (discharging directly through a simple plug) requires a Bi-directional On-Board Charger (OBC), a specific hardware component that most current Tesla models lack as they are equipped with unidirectional OBCs designed only to take power in, not send it out.
