- Model & Connector Compatibility: The WETOX D2 is currently confirmed and validated for the North American CCS1 Ford Mustang Mach-E. While European models share the underlying protocol, WETOX has not conducted real-vehicle testing on European CCS2 Mach-E vehicles yet, so we cannot guarantee compatibility with European-spec Mach-E models at this time. However, for multi-EV households: if you own the NACS version of the D2, our live testing confirms it can be used on a CCS1 Mustang Mach-E via a reliable third-party NACS-to-CCS1 adapter to achieve full V2L functionality.
- Vehicle Compatibility & Unauthorized Use: The WETOX D2 currently supports only the North American Ford Mustang Mach-E; other CCS1-equipped EV models are not guaranteed to work, as adapting new vehicle architectures requires rigorous, extensive verification. Plugging the D2 into any unconfirmed or unlisted vehicle models is strictly prohibited. Any equipment failure, vehicle damage, or associated losses resulting from unauthorized vehicle connections will not be covered by our product warranty or product liability insurance.
- Discharge Range & Settings: The WETOX D2 features a default 10% low-battery protection threshold (fully customizable via the WETOX App) to prevent completely draining your vehicle. Important: Because the adapter communicates via the vehicle's standard DC charging protocol, ensure your Mach-E’s current battery percentage is below the target "Target Charge Level" set on your SYNC screen or FordPass App; otherwise, the vehicle may not close its high-voltage contactors to start discharging.
- Vehicle Display Status: Since Tesla does not have a dedicated built-in UI for V2L, your Tesla instrument cluster, touchscreen, and mobile App will all display the status as "Charging" while using the V2L function via the adapter. This is simply due to the vehicle's system limitations and does not affect the actual discharge performance.
- Weather Resistance:The WETOX D2 and its sockets are engineered as an integrated system with an IPX5 weather-resistant rating, remaining safe in wet conditions even with no plugs inserted. However, when connecting loads, power plugs must be fully seated to maintain a proper seal; partially inserted plugs may compromise safety. Please note that while the WETOX hardware is weather-protected, users must ensure their connected appliances and extension cords are rated for outdoor use. The USB-C port is not water-resistant and must remain sealed with its rubber cap during operation.
- Regional Compatibility & Output: This product is designed specifically for the North American market, delivering a 120V 60Hz AC output via dual NEMA 5-15 sockets. Please note that while some North American CCS1 Mustang Mach-E vehicles are parallel-imported to regions like South Korea (where standard home grid voltage is 220V), the D2 will strictly output 120V. It cannot power 220V-only appliances. Always verify that your appliances match the 120V 60Hz electrical rating before plugging them in.
- Grounding Notice:As a portable power unit, the WETOX D2 utilizes a floating ground and does not feature a physical earth connection. If you need to power sensitive equipment or secondary EV chargers that perform mandatory grounding checks, use a device capable of bypassing ground verification or pair the setup with a standard Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug.
- Internal Battery Maintenance: The WETOX D2 contains an internal battery to power initial protocol communication with the vehicle's BMS. If the adapter has been stored unused for an extended period, the internal battery may deplete. To restore it, connect a USB-C cable overnight prior to use, or supply power via USB-C while starting the device; once active V2L discharging begins, the adapter will automatically recharge its internal battery. The USB-C port is strictly for charging the adapter itself. We recommend charging the unit once every quarter during long storage periods.

Can I use the WETOX D2 on other CCS1 electric vehicles from Ford or other brands?
No. Even if the physical charging port is identical, every EV model and automaker utilizes distinct low-level communication protocols and security handshakes for high-voltage DC power. The WETOX D2 can only be used on specific vehicle models officially confirmed and listed by WETOX.
Plugging the adapter into unverified vehicles will result in communication failure and may pose unexpected electrical safety risks. Our engineering team is actively validating additional EV platforms, and newly supported models will be added to our official compatibility list periodically.
How long can the V2L adapter power my appliances? Will it completely drain my Mach-E's battery?
The WETOX D2 functions by drawing high-voltage DC power directly from your Mustang Mach-E and converting it into stable AC electricity. Runtime depends on two factors: your vehicle's current State of Charge (SOC) and the total wattage of your connected appliances.
To protect your mobility, the adapter features real-time SOC monitoring and an automated low-battery safeguard (default at 10% SOC, customizable in the WETOX App) that automatically stops discharging, ensuring you always have sufficient range to reach a charging station.
Will using the V2L adapter damage my Mustang Mach-E?
Not at all. The WETOX D2 is engineered in strict compliance with established international standards, including CCS1 and ISO-15118. It communicates with your vehicle through a sophisticated, standardized handshake protocol, allowing the BMS to safely and voluntarily close contactors and supply power—no ECU hacking, wire splicing, or hardware modifications involved.
The Mach-E's high-voltage battery system is built to handle instantaneous discharge outputs exceeding 200kW during acceleration; a continuous 3.6kW draw is completely negligible and will not compromise battery health.
Will using the WETOX D2 affect my Ford factory warranty?
No, plugging in an external V2L adapter will not magically void your factory warranty—just like with Tesla, that’s a common misconception.
Under standard Ford policy (as outlined in the official Ford BEV Warranty Guide), the vehicle warranty excludes damage caused specifically by misuse or external equipment failures. In plain terms: simply using a third-party accessory doesn't affect your coverage. However, if an improperly designed device were to somehow cause direct physical or electrical damage to the vehicle, that specific damage wouldn't be covered by Ford—this is completely standard and reasonable—any damage caused by a third-party accessory should naturally be borne by the accessory manufacturer, which is also why we provide global insurance coverage for our products.
Can Ford simply add V2L via an OTA update, making this hardware obsolete?
No. Native AC V2L (discharging AC power directly through a simple adapter on the vehicle's J1772 AC port) requires a built-in Bi-directional On-Board Charger (OBC). The Mustang Mach-E is equipped with a standard unidirectional OBC from the factory, which is a fixed physical hardware limit that no software update can change. To draw usable AC electricity from the vehicle, an external DC-to-AC conversion system like the WETOX D2—connecting through the high-voltage DC pins below the J1772 port—is physically required.
While automakers control vehicle firmware, charging communications follow standardized protocol frameworks. Furthermore, the WETOX D2 features wireless OTA firmware capability. If Ford ever modifies its charging communication logic in a future software rollout, our engineering team can quickly deploy compatibility patches directly via the WETOX App to ensure uninterrupted operation.
What certifications does the WETOX D2 hold?
We provide full, transparent compliance documentation for our hardware. Because portable DC V2L adapters represent an emerging product category, standard standalone UL certifications (like UL 2251 for passive plugs or UL 9741 for stationary bi-directional chargers) do not directly apply to the complete device category.
Instead, we validate our hardware against the highest international testing benchmarks: we hold the world’s very first SGS test certification report for next-generation V2X communication protocols, full FCC certification for North American EMC standards, a CE Declaration of Conformity for the complete unit, and comprehensive global product liability insurance covering the device, the vehicle, and personal safety.

We provide a comprehensive 2-Year Warranty for all users. This includes a "Year 1: Replacement Only" policy—meaning if any hardware issue occurs in the first 12 months, we will immediately send you a brand-new unit instead of making you wait for repairs. For the second year, you are fully covered under our standard professional warranty. We don't charge extra for reliability; it's built into every D2 we make.
